Disability insurace is designed to protect you from the inability to work if you become disabled. If are no longer able to work the insurance replaces income lost because of the periood of disability. Disability insurance is available in both group and individual policies, short term and long term.
Basic disability income protection is available under the Social Security Disability Insurancem (SSDI) program for individuals who are totally and permanently disabled.
